This series of short social videos connects crucial non-partisan information on the U.S. midterm elections with audiences on social platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. At a time when social platforms have just passed all other mediums as the number-one source of news for people globally (Reuters/Oxford, 2026), this series embraces the best practices and proven tactics of social video to reach a wide audience on the sites where they spend their time. The series will be produced by Evident, the Emmy-winning nonprofit newsroom for visual journalism, in collaboration with local news outlets within the States Newsroom network, specifically organizations in the key election states of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. The series will cover important topics, including the role of federal election monitors, mail-in voting, and local community-led efforts to protect voting rights.
