Vagner de Alencar holds a PhD and Master's in education from the Graduate Program in Education: History, Politics, Society at PUC-SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo). He has a degree in journalism from Mackenzie Presbyterian University. Co-founder and journalism director of Agência Mural de Jornalismo das Periferias. Author of "Cidade do Paraíso - Há vida na maior favela de São Paulo." Previously worked as an education reporter and advisor for NGOs. Taught in adult education and currently conducts lectures and/or courses on journalism and peripheries. International visitor of the IVLP (International Visitor Leadership Program), a professional exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State. Winner of the 3rd Fernando Pacheco Jordão Young Journalist Award, the 8th Sebrae Journalism Award for the state of São Paulo (audio category), and a finalist for the 2020 Impact Journalist Award by Ponteaponte in the initiatives in peripheral contexts category.
