Susana Lay

Susana Lay is a freelance writer and researcher who focuses on socio-environmental topics.

She studied literature at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá and later obtained a bachelor's in education with a major in literature and humanities from Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, in Lima.

In 2018 she covered the visit of conservation biologist Thomas Lovejoy to Madre de Dios, witnessing the grand devastation of illegal gold mining in the Amazon rainforest. She has worked as a freelance scriptwriter at Movistar Plus for shows focused on travel, sustainability, and Peruvian ancestral cultures, and her stories have been featured in Somos, Altaïr, Savoteur magazine—where she was an editor—among others.

Along with Atlantic Fellows for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), she has conducted research about aging diversity in Peru during a pandemic.
