Sharon Atieno

Sharon Atieno is a Kenyan environmental journalist and trainer. She works as an editor at Science Africa, a Nairobi-based media outlet that focuses on science and development across the continent.
Atieno has won a number of story grants, including from the Earth Journalism Network, the Environmental Reporting Collective, and the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime, which have enabled her to report on various issues, including pollution, overfishing, and poaching, among others.
Additionally, she has worked with InfoNile and Oxpeckers Investigative Environmental Journalism as a data wrangler and mentor for #WildEye Eastern Africa, a tool used to help journalists track wildlife crime in the region.
