Richa Syal

Richa Syal is an investigative journalist reporting on environmental exploitation. Her reporting highlights how humans and wildlife are adapting to new threats in their ecosystem caused by climate change or government and corporate injustices.
In the past, Syal has covered organized crime within fisheries, smuggling routes of the illegal wildlife trade, failed tree conservation initiatives, and community impacts from oil pollution. She previously worked in Malaysia with the Peabody-nominated investigative team R.AGE, with past stints at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and The Globe and Mail. She is currently based in the United Arab Emirates.
She holds a master’s degree in media, communications, and development from the London School of Economics.
