GRANTEE
Pattaraporn Sritongtae, director of the documentary film AFTER, serves as editor of Decode.plus, an online media platform under the Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) and dedicated to fostering meaningful change.
Sritongtae's 16-year career in journalism began as an economic reporter for Matichon Public Company. She later worked on media law reform for the Law Reform Commission of Thailand before becoming a Backpack Journalist at Thai PBS. A Backpack Journalist is a journalist responsible for all aspects of news production—from research, field filming, and interviews to scriptwriting, editing, and even administrative and financial tasks. This role also includes managing online interactive communications for the news program Backpack Journalist, which covers various social issues in Thailand and the Southeast Asia region.
Sritongtae has a keen interest in topics such as economic inequality, competition for environmental resources, and the influence of China in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
In 2017, she became the first Thai journalist and producer to receive the top international micro-documentary award. Her micro-documentary, Knocking at Your Door, was the only entry from Thailand selected for screening at the International Micro Documentary Festival in China.
