Niklas Schenck

Niklas Schenck is a filmmaker and journalist in Germany, trained at the Henri-Nannen school of journalism in Hamburg. His first documentary, Secret Wars for German public television, detailed Germany's involvement in U.S. drone strikes in Somalia. Funded by the Pulitzer Center and with director Lukas Augustin, he produced the multimedia story Love for My Enemies for The Atavist, which was nominated for an Emmy. He moved to Kabul in 2014 with his partner, Ronja von Wurmb-Seibel, and together they produced the documentary True Warriors, which tells the story of a group of artists in Kabul whose premiere of a play about suicide attacks became the target of a suicide bombing. Their latest film is Here to Stay, a story of seven young men who fled to Germany around 2015.
