Michael Coren

Michael Coren is the climate and technology editor for Quartz in San Francisco. He started his journalism career covering science and the environment at The Palm Beach Post and San Jose Mercury News.

After receiving a Luce Fellowship in 2002, Coren relocated to Cambodia as a reporter for The Phnom Penh Post. The next year, he became the English-language newspaper's youngest managing editor.

After returning to the U.S., Coren served as CNN.com's science producer, writing and directing multimedia features that expanded science coverage for the site's users.

His subsequent freelance career in Indonesia, East Timor, and Southeast Asia included one civil war, two earthquakes, and one tsunami while writing for The Christian Science MonitorNewsweek, Outside, Voice of America, The Globe and Mail, and wire and radio services.
