Namibian photographer Margaret Courtney-Clarke aims to bring historically situated socio-political injustices to light and educate and celebrate the resilience and creative impulse in the practices of women in the African context. She began her career in the 1970s, working across the globe, and she is the author of 10 books. 

Courtney-Clarke’s work has received regular acclaim, including being named The Hundred Heroines by the Royal Photographic Society in 2018, and being short-listed in 2019 and 2020 for the Contemporary African Photography Prize.
