Leah Thompson is a multimedia journalist and the associate director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations at the Asia Society. At the Center she has produced videos on issues ranging from arts and culture to the Beijing Olympics, foreign investment and climate change. Her recent work on the rural-urban divide in China has been published on ChinaFile, and translated for the Chinese edition of The New York Times. She is also the project director of “Coal+Ice,” an ongoing multimedia photography exhibition that opened at Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing in 2011.
Originally from northern California, she holds a B.A. in history and American studies from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.A. in history from San Francisco State University. She currently lives in Brooklyn.
