Laverne Mickens

Laverne Mickens is a 24 year veteran educator at Rebecca Johnson Elementary School in Springfield, MA. She is the wife of an educator (Cory) and the mama of 5 fabulous children. Her youngest, Liz, attends Bard College debt free majoring in dance and studio art. Laverne is also an arts educator, arts advocate, scholarship coach and college counselor. She is a Harold Grinspoon Award Winner in Western Massachusetts, as well as a finalist for Massachusetts Teacher of the Year in 2020.
