Kristen Gelineau

Kristen Gelineau is a global investigations correspondent for The Associated Press, based in Sydney, Australia. She joined the AP in 2002 in the United States, where she covered everything from disasters to death row.

In 2008, she transferred to AP's bureau in Sydney, where she later became the chief of bureau for Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.

Gelineau specializes in human rights reporting, focusing on the world’s forgotten people. She has investigated human trafficking throughout the Asia-Pacific, exposed atrocities committed against civilians by Myanmar’s ruling military and has reported extensively from the refugee camps of Bangladesh on the plight of the persecuted Rohingya people.

Gelineau's work has won numerous awards, including the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for International Reporting, the Overseas Press Club's Hal Boyle Award, the Eugene S. Pulliam National Writing Award, the Society of Publishers in Asia Award for Women's Issues, and the Society of Publishers in Asia Award for Excellence in Human Rights Reporting.

Gelineau holds a degree in journalism from Boston University.
