Kris Vire

Kris Vire is a journalist covering arts and culture in Chicago. Currently, he's a contributing culture critic for Chicago magazine and a theater critic for the Chicago Sun-Times. Previously, Vire spent 11 years on staff at Time Out Chicago as theater editor and, later, as a senior editor covering theater, film, television, comedy, and LGBTQ issues and events. As a freelancer, he's written for publications including the New York Times, the Chicago Reader, American Theatre, Curbed, Playbill, Sixtysix, and Fodor's. He also publishes Storefront Rebellion (storefrontrebellion.substack.com), an email newsletter for followers of Chicago's theater scene. A native of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Vire majored in theater at the University of Arkansas before making Chicago his adopted home. You can find more of his work at krisvire.com.
