Katerina Portela
2024 REPORTING FELLOW
Katerina Portela is a student journalist interested in investigative stories that highlight diverse community voices on anything from protests, parking tickets, and the arts. Katerina is pursuing her undergraduate degree in journalism with minors in English and international studies at San Diego State University. She is a senior staff writer at her university paper The Daily Aztec, manages the blog and started a student-run music zine at KCR College Radio, and is part of her local NAHJ chapter. She works at KPBS Public Media, a PBS member station in San Diego, where she writes stories for TV, radio, and website publication.
