John W. Bateman
GRANTEE
John W. Bateman writes and looks for stories from the Deep South. His work has appeared in movies and several media outlets, including The New Southern Fugitives, the Chicago Tribune, Electric Literature, Facing South, and the Santa Fe Writers Project Quarterly.
His first novel, Who Killed Buster Sparkle? (Unsolicited Press), was a 2020 nominee in fiction for the Mississippi Institute of Arts & Letters honors, and it was the recipient of the 2019 Screencraft Cinematic Book Award.
Bateman received his master's in fine arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
