Jenae Barnes

Jenae Barnes is a 2024 Pulitzer Center StoryReach U.S. Reporting Fellow and a health and environment reporter for Capital B. She is one of the first reporters of the flagship newsroom in Gary, Indiana, and covers health disparities and environmental injustices in the majority-Black community.
Previously, Barnes interned at ABC News, Apple News, and Forbes. She holds a master's degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor's degree in global affairs from George Mason University.
She is originally from Washington, D.C., and spent two years in New York before moving to the Steel City.
