Jeffrey Brainard
GUEST CONTRIBUTOR
Jeffrey Brainard joined Science as an associate news editor in 2017. He covers an array of topics, including scientific publishing, and edits the In Brief section in the print magazine. While studying philosophy and biology at Williams College, he caught the bug for daily newspaper reporting, which led him to the St. Petersburg Times, Florida's largest newspaper. But his biology addiction proved even more compelling, leading him to full-time science journalism. After attending Boston University's science writing program, he covered science policy as a staff reporter and data analyst at the Chronicle of Higher Education and wrote about environmental science and the Chesapeake Bay at Maryland Sea Grant at the University of Maryland, College Park.
