Emily Cooper
REPORTING FELLOW
Emily Cooper is the 2022 Reporting Fellow for Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Cooper is a first-generation graduate student at SIUC studying strategic communications. In May of 2021, she received her undergraduate degree from SIUC in journalism. There, she started her journey in journalism as a reporter for The Daily Egyptian, eventually working her way up to editor-in-chief.
Her work focuses on the educational strategies for teaching media literacy in Illinois, primarily between Chicago and the southern Illinois region. She is currently the student managing editor at the Gateway Journalism Review, a Midwest journalism review, which resides at SIUC. Cooper is from Wisconsin and loves listening to music, painting, and the outdoors.
