Diego Fernández Romeral

Diego Fernández Romeral is a journalist and screenwriter with a bachelor’s degree in communication sciences from the University of Buenos Aires. Fernández was part of the editorial team at the newspapers Página 12 and Clarín. His reports, profiles, and feature articles have been published in Latin American media outlets such as Gatopardo, Orsai, Anfibia, and Brando. In 2024, he won the Gabriel García Márquez Award in the Text category for his report “La noche de los caballos” (“The Night of the Horses”).
He has always been interested in narrative and audiovisual journalism. Fernández has written about mafias, jewel thieves, armored truck robbers, millionaire con artists, famous criminals, and figures from the underworld. Since 2019, he has also worked as an investigative journalist and screenwriter at the audiovisual production companies DL-Cine and Planta Alta, developing films and series.
Fernández was a finalist for the Nuevas Plumas Award and the True Story Award. His investigations were supported by the Gabriel García Márquez Foundation, the Pulitzer Center, and the United Nations.
