Dánica Coto

Dánica Coto is a correspondent for The Associated Press and is based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She covers the Caribbean region and has reported multiple times from Haiti, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, and several other nations for stories about the economy, politics, gang violence, and natural disasters.

She is a trilingual journalist from Costa Rica who also helps edit and translate AP stories. Prior to joining the news agency, she worked at The Charlotte Observer as a general assignment and immigration reporter, winning several awards for two yearlong projects on immigration.
