Claudia Ocaranza

Claudia Ocaranza Abascal is a Mexican investigative and data journalist with 13 years of experience. She specializes in reporting about business and human rights-related topics and has coordinated investigative journalistic teams.
In 2022, she co-founded the transparency initiative pidala.info. Her stories have appeared on Mexican media and organizations such as PODER, Empower, Excélsior, Expansión, and Proceso, as well as in the U.S.-based media outlets Univision and El Nuevo Herald.
She was part of the 2020 Open Data Sigma Award-winning team with Todos los Contratos, a tool developed by PODER that evaluates the performance of the agencies in charge of public procurement in Mexico. She also collaborated with the team behind A dónde va mi pensión (Where is My Pension?) series, winner of the 2022 SIP Award.
