Charles Sanderson
LESSON BUILDER USER, GUEST CONTRIBUTOR
Charles Sanderson has taught for twenty-one years and found home teaching in Woodburn, Oregon. He is the 2020 Oregon Teacher of the Year for the Willamette Region and a member of the inaugural class of Vocal Justice Teaching Fellows, an organization dedicated to empowering undervalued Black and Brown youth to become socially conscious leaders, by teaching them how to communicate authentically and persuasively about social justice issues. He is constantly evolving as an educator and currently strives to create an experience he calls, “Mirror, Lens, and Bridge” where students see themselves, have opportunities to look through different lenses into the lives of others, and finally build bridges of empathy, affinity, and understanding--especially between groups of people who may seem vastly different.
