Brigid McCarthy

Brigid McCarthy is a rising senior English major and Hispanic Studies minor at Davidson College. She has been reporting since high school and became the editor-in-chief of the Davidsonian, Davidson's student newspaper, her freshman year. She has published creative nonfiction as well as poetry in Atlantis, The Foundationalist, and Laurel Moon, among others.
During the summer of 2023, McCarthy received a Bank of America Kemp Scholarship to complete a reporting project; she researched a Big Oil climate disinformation campaign on the Jersey Shore, the site of a burgeoning offshore wind industry. She hopes to follow the climate beat in her writing career, starting this summer as a 2024 Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellow.
