Barinia Montoya Montenegro

Barinia Montoya Montenegro is an investigative journalist with over 15 years of experience, specializing in environmental issues, climate justice, and on-the-ground socio-environmental conflicts in Chile.
Her work combines investigative rigor with a strong background in narrative writing. She has contributed to Mongabay Latam, Dialogue Earth, and Climate Tracker, among other international outlets.
She is the author of the investigation The Story of the Aymara Indigenous Communities (finalist for the 2022 Memory and Human Rights Journalism Award) and co-author of "Naturaleza acorralada" (selected for presentation at the 2023 COLPIN Conference and a finalist for the Alberto Hurtado University Journalism of Excellence Award).
