Molly Helfend

Molly Helfend is a freelance journalist, ethnobotanist and ecopsychologist based in London. Grounded in the relationship between people and the natural world, her reporting examines how communities relate to the living systems around them. Much of her work centers Indigenous and traditional communities and the globalization of plant medicines, asking who holds authority over traditional knowledge and who benefits as it enters global markets, alongside reporting on conservation and environmental justice. Her work has appeared in Vice News Tonight, BBC Wildlife and Atmos, and she photographs much of her own field reporting. She holds a BS in environmental studies from the University of Vermont, an MSc in ethnobotany from the University of Kent and a graduate degree in ecopsychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
