War has torn Sudan apart. Civilians are paying the steepest price. This project follows civilian families in Sudan who have fled Khartoum to the Nuba Mountains.

War in the country has been raging since April 2023, with few signs of abating. By following a team of war crimes investigators, journalist Nicolas Niarchos shows how war crimes are being committed by the Rapid Support Forces, a militia backed by the United Arab Emirates, as well as units in the Sudanese armed forces.
