Students learn about the history of globalization and how it impacts their lives. They will analyze how journalists visualize global stories and make connections between global and local issues.
These three lessons by artist-educator Diana Greene are based on a Pulitzer Center NewsArts workshop for journalism students at R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem, NC. The workshop guided students in researching and creating a film that explores connections between Winston-Salem’s history of textile manufacturing and the growing global textiles industry. Students learned how to conduct in-depth research and interviews, visualize their research, write and record narrations, and collaborate with their classmates to order the short films into a larger narrative.
