Micael Pereira

Micael Pereira is a senior staff writer at Expresso, the leading Portuguese newspaper. He has reported on corruption cases in Portugal and also in some African countries, such as the Congo and Angola.

He’s a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and was involved in many of its projects, including the Panama Papers and Luanda Leaks. Pereira is working with the European Investigative Collaborations  network as well, and he was part of the EIC's Football Leaks and Malta Files investigations.

After going to Guatemala in 2019 with Forbidden Stories’ Green Blood series to uncover the harm done by a nickel mining company, Pereira said he felt inspired to dive deep into the climate crisis. He produced Black Trail, a one-hour documentary on ship emissions. The film was released in 2021.
