'Flamenco Queer' Screening in Mexico City

Join Pulitzer Center grantees Frederick Bernas and Ana González for a screening of their documentary Flamenco Queer on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 2:15pm CDT.

This Mexico City event at Cine Tonalá will be the first public screening of the documentary. Bernas and González will join the event.

Flamenco Queer follows the story of Manuel Liñán, an award-winning artist who created a cathartic performance with six other men to allow them to freely share their cross-dressing tendencies, something all the men had kept in the closet for more than three decades.

Bernas is a British-American filmmaker who explores film in a social, political, and cultural lens. His work has taken him around the world, from Bolivia to Antarctica.

González is an award-winning documentary filmmaker interested in social issues. She has collaborated with media outlets such as the BBC, The New Yorker, Al Jazeera, Atlas Obscura, National Geographic, France Ô, Mediaset, and others.
