Join us for a discussion about Oakland's ongoing lead contamination crisis.
This event will bring together experts, community members, and city officials to explore the urgent issues raised in El Tímpano's investigative report "Toxic Inaction: Oakland’s Lead Funding Languishes as Residents Live With Serious Health Risks."

Our investigative journalists and invited panelists will discuss the disproportionate effect of lead exposure on low-income communities of color in Oakland, California, and the city's delayed response in using $5.1 million in lead settlement funds. They’ll also discuss possible solutions to the crisis, such as proactive rental inspections. We will also hear from residents directly affected by lead exposure.

The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session, allowing attendees to engage directly with panelists and share their concerns and experiences. This event will raise awareness, foster dialogue, and push for concrete action to address Oakland's lead crisis.

The discussion will offer live translation into Spanish. Free food and drink will be available.
