Grantee Kylie Marsh will visit Hampton University on November 11 & 12, 2024 to share her reporting on Black maternal mortality. While on campus, she will visit classes and speak with students about her Pulitzer Center-supported reporting, Perils of Pregnancy: Black Maternal Mortality, and experiences as a freelancer in the industry.

Marsh is a freelance reporter who has contributed to The Charlotte Post, the Durham Art Guild, the online news outlet Qcitymetro, the Triangle Tribune, and The Local Reporter. Marsh’s reporting entwines the South’s history of racial and economic discrimination with efforts to close the mortality gap, especially in terms of investments to improve birth outcomes.
