Herbert L. White, editor-in-chief of The Charlotte Post, will visit Forsyth Tech Community College on October 30, 2025. He will have lunch with a group of journalism students, and present his Pulitzer Center-supported project After Lockdown: Life for the Formerly Incarcerated to students, staff, and faculty.
After Lockdown: Life for the Formerly Incarcerated examines the hurdles that formerly incarcerated adults face as they try to re-integrate into society. The project details how societal and racial bias prevents people with criminal records from education, jobs, housing and parental rights.
His other Pulitzer Center-supported projects include: Climate for Change, Working Wage: Black Labor Advocacy in the South, and Perils of Pregnancy: Black Maternal Mortality.
White’s work has been featured in TIME magazine, The Charlotte Observer, and Our State magazine.
