Pulitzer Center grantee Neenma Ebeledike will visit Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, to speak with students and faculty about her Center-supported documentary Allensworth Rising: A Fight for Water.

The university’s Media Analysis course will host a screening of the film, followed by a Q&A with Ebeledike. Later in the afternoon, she will join the Editing the Magazine course to discuss the process of pitching a story for funding. This session will help prepare students for the university’s annual pitch competition, where they will compete for funding to travel abroad to report a story.

Allensworth Rising: A Fight for Water follows community leader Sherry Hunter’s fight for clean water in the historic Black community of Allensworth, California.

Ebeledike is a Nigerian video and photojournalist passionate about amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. She is currently a California Local News fellow, and works as a multimedia journalist at The Sacramento Observer.
