Photojournalist and Pulitzer Center grantee Justin Cook will participate in Southern Illinois University Carbondale's 2026 Weekend Workshop.
The Weekend Workshop, which will be held April 9-12 at the Murphysboro Youth and Recreation Center, provides an intense and immersive learning experience for photojournalism students. Over the course of the weekend, and under the guidance of visiting faculty members, students will develop stories about a small town.
Cook is among this year’s visiting faculty, and will guide students through the power of cultivating relationships with subjects, navigating identity and positionality as a photographer, and shaping compelling visual narratives.
Cook’s Pulitzer Center-supported project "Origins": Climate Change, Resistance, and Solutions in Princeville, North Carolina, America’s Oldest Black Town investigates how the town is connecting agriculture, geology, and history to build climate resilience.
