Join the Pulitzer Center and the American University (AU) School of Communication on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in Washington, DC, for "Freelancers: Between Headlines and Hope." The evening brings together media creators, disseminators and consumers to explore ways to support and to protect freelance journalists working overseas.

In recent years, the Pulitzer Center-American University Campus Consortium partnership has supported international reporting fellowships by AU students traveling to Thailand, Mexico, Borneo, Laos, Colombia, Peru and Guatemala.

The evening features segments from documentary films and other works produced by students as well as segments from Mexico for the documentary series, FREELANCERS with Bill Gentile, about the new breed of freelance foreign correspondents filling the void left by mainstream media retreating from news coverage abroad. Gentile moderates the post-screening conversation with Pulitzer Center student fellows Erin McGoff, Julia BoccagnoKristian Hernández, and Kara Andrade.

Light reception at 6:30 pm followed by the program at 7 pm. Reservations recommended.
