School community conversations about AI ethics

This event, on August 29, 2026, will offer educators the opportunity to learn from the 2026 Pulitzer Center AI Teacher Advisory Council members' projects that they implemented to lead critical discussions about AI accountability in their schools.

Participants will also explore the journalism, instructional tools, and other resources that allowed Council members to develop models for successful engagement with AI ethics and accountability in a variety of school environments.

The 2026 AI Teacher Advisory Council includes classroom teachers, librarians, and technology directors working in seven different school communities across the Northeast, South, Midwest, and Southwest regions. Their projects revolved around critical questions explored within their unique instructional contexts. Educators from all backgrounds may find resources to spark important conversations about the responsibility teachers, students, and families share in holding AI accountable.

The event will feature conversations with Pulitzer Center journalists reporting on relevant AI issues and include practical steps for educators who hope to engage in responsible decision-making around AI implementation in the new school year.
