On March 16, 2020, join the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and the Pulitzer Center for the Midwest Dairy Symposium, an informative, thought-provoking event centered on the future of Wisconsin's iconic dairy industry.
The program will feature panelists from UW-Platteville, including Dr. Kevin Bernhardt and Dr. Tera Montgomery, along with Pete Hardin, longtime editor of The Milkweed, and Rick Barrett, the lead reporter on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's yearlong reporting project, "Dairyland in Distress."
The project is part of the Pulitzer Center's Bringing Stories Home initiative, which funds local and regional U.S. newsrooms to cover underreported stories that might not otherwise get told.
Panelists will outline the challenges posed by Wisconsin's dairy industry, but will also focus on potential solutions and how young farmers can still find success in the state.
This event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served.
The program begins at Ullsvik Hall promptly at 8 a.m. Free parking will be available in Lot 3A.
