Ask Me Anything: AI Accountability Network Fellowships

Are you interested in reporting on the impacts of artificial intelligence? Would you like to receive a 10-month fellowship that includes financial support for your reporting project, a community of peers, mentorship, and training opportunities?
That is what we are offering with our AI Accountability Fellowships. The Fellowships are part of the Pulitzer Center’s AI Accountability Network.
Join us on July 17, 2024, to learn more about joining the third (2024-2025) cohort of our AI Accountability Fellowships. At this virtual meeting, the Pulitzer Center’s AI Network manager will be joined by one of our AI Fellows from the second cohort to discuss the details of the current call for proposals as well as to answer questions about the Fellowship experience. The call for proposals is open until August 10, 2024.
The Pulitzer Center is recruiting eight to 10 journalists from anywhere in the world to report on the impacts of algorithmic and automated systems in their communities. We encourage journalists from the Global South and from communities that are underrepresented in the media to apply.
While we welcome projects on a broad range of issues, this year we are also placing special emphasis on certain topics. We are seeking to support at least one project on transparency and governance in relation to AI. This includes projects that follow the money across borders, shed light on opaque and harmful AI supply chains, or report on legislation, business practices, and organizations that exacerbate the lack of accountability and transparency of AI systems.
