Learn more at virtual meeting
Join us on September 1, 2026, to learn more about joining the fourth (2027) cohort of our ORN Fellowship. At this virtual, "Ask Me Anything" meeting, Pulitzer Center Environmental Investigations Editor Fernanda Buffa will be joined by 2026 ORN Fellow Daniela Castro to discuss the details of the current call for applications as well as to answer questions about the Fellowship.
Each year, the ORN recruits up to 10 journalists from around the world to report on the many pressures faced by marine biodiversity and coastal communities. We encourage applications from the Global South and from communities that are underrepresented in the media.
While we welcome projects on a broad range of issues, this year we are also placing special emphasis on certain topics. We are seeking to support at least two projects on transparency and governance in relation to ocean issues. This includes projects that follow the money across borders; shed light on opaque and harmful supply chains; or report on legislation, business practices, and organizations that exacerbate the lack of accountability and transparency of ocean practices.
Important dates
The ORN Fellowship call for applications is open until September 13, 2026. The "Ask Me Anything" event will happen on September 1, 2026, at 4:00pm GMT. Register here for the session.
