Asia Alexander, a 2025 Mental Well-Being in the U.S. Reporting Fellow, will travel to South Dakota State University for a campus visit April 21-22, 2026.
During her time on campus, Alexander will visit the university’s Watchdog Reporting, Multimedia Reporting, Cultural Issues in Mass Communications, and Global and Multicultural Advertising courses, where she will discuss her Pulitzer Center-supported reporting project and her journalism experience. On April 22, at 7:00pm Central time, Alexander will deliver the Annual Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting Lecture.
Her Center-supported project, Under Pressure: The Hidden Cost of Being a Black Teacher in Mississippi, explores the growing mental health crisis among Black educators in rural Southern communities, with a focus on Mississippi.
Alexander is a journalist and communications specialist with a passion for storytelling, media strategy, and public relations. She is a recent graduate of Howard University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in political science. Alexander reports for The Boston Globe and has worked with Forbes, NASA, General Motors, United Talent Agency, and the United States Senate.
With expertise in media relations, digital content creation, and social strategy, Alexander is committed to amplifying diverse voices and shaping impactful narratives at the intersection of media, culture, and advocacy.
