In 2015, El Salvador's murder rate was the highest in Central America, with an average of over 15 homicides per day. Gangs control the streets in a country where police, soldiers and politicians have proved ineffective. For her project " Violence and Hope in El Salvador," Lauren Markham reports from the capital, San Salvador, on the country's violence, as well as prospects of meaningful change.
