COVID-19

The Pulitzer Center’s COVID-19 reporting support has continued beyond the initial pandemic years, enabling journalists to produce in-depth stories, podcasts, and videos about such issues as COVID-19’s fallout, vaccine misinformation around the world, and the urgent need to better prepare the Global South for vaccine independence.

A U.S. reporter and photographer traveled to North Africa to investigate why colonial history undermines trust in vaccines. A French reporter documented how a powerful self-proclaimed guru in India has enriched himself from anti-vaccine rhetoric and claims that he can cure COVID-19. A Peruvian reporter traveled to remote areas to produce podcasts in Spanish and Indigenous languages documenting and dismantling COVID-19 vaccine myths. A Mexican reporter investigated how government denial of the existence of long COVID has harmed legions of people.
