The University of Richmond is one of only a handful of liberal arts colleges in the United States with a department dedicated to the study and practice of journalism. The Department of Journalism offers a major and minor in journalism. The journalism major is one of the most popular ones in the School of Arts and Sciences. Students graduate with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, refined and advanced skills in journalism, and a deep understanding of journalism's place and role in global society.

International Education is ranked #2 nationally in study abroad and #7 for the number of international students who study with us by the US News and World Report. Global exposure is a fundamental part of a Richmond education. International Education Week is a popular opportunity to celebrate across cultures. The office supports innovative study abroad and local-global programs, and student travel is fully funded through the EnCompass program, which supports non-traditional students who are otherwise at risk not to study abroad. Post-graduate experiences for students include Fulbright scholarships, the Peace Corps and Davis Projects for Peace.
