Creating Individual and Collaborative Photojournalism Exhibits


Warm up: Students evaluate images that come to mind when they think of "Washington, D.C."

Introducing the Lesson: Students compare the images they think of when they think of Washington, D.C. to images composed by middle school students from the District as part of the Everyday DC project

Preparing to Compose a Photography Exhibition that Combats Stereotypes and Communicates Everyday life: Students apply photography, caption-writing and curation skills to the creation of an exhibition that communicates everyday life in their communities

Individual and Class Projects: Students use their own images, and images composed by their classmates to prepare photography exhibitions that communicate underreported stories about everyday life in their communities.
