Pulitzer Center Events at FotoWeek DC 2012

Who grows your cocoa? Who peels your shrimp? Who mines your gold? Many of the goods we buy travel thousands of miles before reaching our doorsteps, obscuring our connection to the places and people affected by their production. 

The costs to these individuals, communities and environments too often remain hidden, frequently at the behest of companies and governments that put a premium on production and exports. 

Our exhibition, Global Goods: Local Costs, explores the human costs of producing commodities that have become essential to our lifestyles and that most of us take for granted.

The events below in Washington, DC, feature the work of photojournalists Dominic Bracco II, Nadia Shira Cohen, Peter DiCampo, Jason Motlagh and Larry Price. You'll have a chance to connect directly with many of these journalists throughout the week so we hope you'll join us for this exciting celebration of these photographers' work.

Thursday, November 8: The Story Behind the Story: Global Goods Local Costs
Join Dominic Bracco II, Nadia Shira Cohen, Peter DiCampo, Jason Motlagh and Larry Price as they share reflections on their reporting, the challenges of telling complex stories through images, and sustaining public interest in the systemic issues on which they report. Introductory remarks by Pulitzer Center Managing Director, Nathalie Applewhite; panel moderated by GW's Jason Osder.
Presentation: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

November 10-18: Global Goods: Local Costs FotoWeek Exhibit

Saturday, November 17: FotoWeek Closing Party
It's a wrap, but it's not over! FotoDC lasts all year, but the festival will be wrapping up with drinks, dancing, and live music by Empresarios on November 17. Celebrate with us as we toast the close of another successful FotoWeekDC at the beautiful Former Spanish Ambassador's Residence on 16th Street. The festivities begin at 8 p.m.
