Pulitzer Center Update February 19, 2025
PublicSource Journalists Named 2025 Richard C. Longworth Media Fellows
Country:

The Pulitzer Center is delighted to announce that the 2025 Richard C. Longworth Media Fellowships will go to Quinn Glabicki and Jamie Wiggan, two journalists at PublicSource, a nonprofit news organization serving Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania.
Glabicki and Wiggan will report on aluminum giant Alcoa's mining operations in western Australia, exploring how the Pittsburgh firm is shaping an economy, culture, and ecosystem more than 10,000 miles away.
The Longworth Media Fellowships aim to reconnect Midwestern readers with international stories that impact their daily lives. After years of financial pressure forcing traditional regional media outlets to cut foreign correspondents from their staffs, nonprofits like PublicSource are stepping up to fill an important void.
Glabicki is a writer, photographer, and Pulitzer Center grantee covering climate and the environment for PublicSource. He uses visual and written media to tell stories about how people in western Pennsylvania interact with their environment and how climate change is impacting local communities.
Wiggan began his journalism career at a news startup in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, where he covered local school boards and municipalities. He left four years later as editor-in-chief. He came to PublicSource after a stint as news editor at Pittsburgh CityPaper.
The Longworth Fellowships are awarded each year, thanks to a generous grant provided by the Clinton Family Fund to honor Longworth, a former Chicago Tribune foreign correspondent and current Distinguished Fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
