Key Points

  • The Bolivian state wants to confine the Ese Ejja of Eyiyoquibo, a community of Indigenous people, far from their ancestral territory. The people have been confronted with land grabbers.
  • The Instituto Nacional de Reforma Agraria (INRA) prioritized the interests of intercultural groups and peasants over the right of the Ese Ejjas of Eyiyoquibo to access their ancestral territory.
  • INRA granted organizations 80,000 hectares of land while leaving the Ese Ejjas' request on a waiting list.
