His voice is licked
but his dreams
are the artillery of words loaded
to uncoil our strength.

(Michel-Ange Hyppolite)

Ti Gason An Ble

Mo yo gwoupe ansanm dèyè dan w;
tou pre a, chapant soupl, maron fonse
figi ou limen avèk jefò a:
oumenm, tigason k'ap pote chay
yon tigranmoun gason; kò pa w la
ki kraze ankò e ankò poutèt aksidan
nesans ou. Mwen suiv vag lan
laso près ou a, w'ap konte mo yo,
chache nan kè w pou mizik ki pi bon a—
"Dèfwa, mwen mande m poukisa;
dèfwa mwen mande m si
manman mwen te fè sa—epi m
vin sonb, mo yo vale limyè
ki antoure m lan, epi m kriye—sèlman
dèfwa, mwen kriye, epi mwen ri,
mwen ri konsa, pandan kèlke sekonn,
mwen ri e mwen kriye epi m reve ankò.
Yon tanbou ak lang an dife yo
k'ap lanse antravè rado lan yo
ta ka pi fasil—yon pwofèt ap pale,
li di nou poukisa latè a ap deplase,
debri nan vil nou an; menm monpè a
avèk zye cheval soupl li yo, bouch li
deplase rapidman antravè po mwen,
menm sa a ta ka pi fasil ke silans sila a;
lari sonb vil la, chalè nan po m lan, manman
mwen k'ap priye anba lonbray, k'ap chante
nan nivo pi pwofon mwen pap janm rive;
epi lè m chante, mwen konn kouman
pou m vole, ak kouman pou m rive kote
dlo a kalme toubiyon nan vant mwen,
e san sa a pa enmi m lè m chante."
Nou kite w nan labrin k'ap layite,
odè lapli a peze lou nan lè a—
kèk kote sou bò palè kraze a
syèl la louvri kò li, e lari yo inonde—
son katatwòf yo, yo vin si nòmal koulyea
—mwen imajine w,
tankou timoun sa yo, k'ap danse
nan delij la, toutouni tankou lasentete.
