Women Who Fight is a photo and text documentary by Olaoluwa Olowu on the lives of Ghana’s female boxers. It tells the stories of women who stepped into the ring chasing dreams, those who were pushed out by a system that failed them, and those still fighting to stay.
Set in Accra and other boxing communities, the project combines portraits and reporting to show how history lingers in the present. It features women like Janet Aquah, who train, compete, and survive in a sport that rarely gives them the support they deserve.
By documenting both the pioneers and today’s fighters, Women Who Fight captures their struggles, their quiet victories, and their hope for a future where women can belong in boxing without having to fight for the right to stay.
