Ghana’s New Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill

Bright Ofosu Amoabeng records a live weekly discussion about LGBTQ+ issues from his home in Accra, Ghana, where lawmakers are considering a bill that would criminalize this kind of broadcast. Image by Kwasi Gyamfi Asiedu. Ghana, 2022.

Lawmakers in Ghana are considering a new bill that would make identifying as queer or as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community a crime punishable by up to five years in prison.

This project explores the impact of proposed legislation, which is expected to pass in some form, on the already marginalized local queer community.
